Outdoor Pizza Oven Australian Buyers Guide

Summer is approaching, which means more barbecues and family gatherings outside. If you love alfresco dining in the breezy open-air, you need outdoor appliances to match like an outdoor pizza oven.

What better addition to your backyard than an outdoor pizza oven? Cooking on a classic pizza oven will bring a whole new dimension to your afternoon get-togethers.

How to Cook Pizza in a Pizza Oven

When cooking pizza, you always want to start with the dough. After making the dough, it usually takes an hour or so to rise. While you wait for the dough to grow, you can make the tomato-based sauce, slice up some vegetables, and cook any meat you want to add.

When the dough is ready, be sure to make it extra-thin. You can stretch it by hand, draping it over your knuckles, and pulling it apart. The more thin the dough is, the easier it will be to cook on the bottom of your pizza oven.

Different Types of Pizza Ovens

Wood-fired

Wood-fired pizza ovens are great for the texture and taste that they’ll give to your food. There’s nothing like the smokey flavour and crisp texture you get when cooking with a wood-fired oven.

Besides, building a fire is a fun activity you can do with friends and family. When you want the stove to be hotter, you can add more wood, and when you want the stove to cool, you stop adding wood.

For an authentic cooking experience, wood-fired is the best, and Goldline’s charcoal smoker pizza oven is the perfect solution.

Gas-fired

If building a fire is prohibited in your area, or you don’t have an outdoor space, you can also use gas. Gas ovens are less intensive to cook with, but also don’t provide the traditional experience of wood-fired ranges.

If you don’t want to be troubled by the maintenance of wood, you might lean towards a gas-fired oven. However, you will lose the smokey flavour and fun of building a fire with a gas-fired oven. The choice is ultimately up to you and your personal preference.

Outdoor vs Inside

Outdoor kitchens are a lovely way to spend more time outdoors. However, we know that designing an outdoor kitchen is easier said than done. To get started, read our blog on Outdoor Kitchen Ideas for inspiration.

Outdoor

To use Goldline’s wood-fired pizza oven, you’ll need an outdoor space. Even if it’s a small backyard, you can add a covering and some chairs for a simple setup.

You’ll just want to make sure your oven is at least 3 metres away from trees and shrubs.

Indoor

If you live in a small apartment or otherwise don’t have a backyard, an indoor setup is always an option. In this case, you wouldn’t be able to use a wood-fired oven but could use a gas oven. You’d just need to ensure you have a gas line connected to an LPG tank or natural gas grid.
